Ecological washing-up cake!
For several years, I have been making solid and 100% natural washing-up produce called “Washing-up Cake”.
It is available free of charge in the washing-up areas of the sanitary blocks and in the accomodations of the campsite. We believe this is a concrete way to limit our ecological impact …
Since every day of the season, many of you ask us for the recipe for the Washing-up Cake : Here it is online!
To your pots and pans, It only takes a few minutes! ;o)
I would like to sincerely thank Justine who introduced me to her recipe for the washing up Cake and to many other magic potions. For the curious, follow this link : monptipote.com
The Ingredients are:
250 gr of Sodium Coco Sulfate
30 gr of water
20g of soda crystals
A double boiler
A wooden pestle or spoon
A container (a pot with a lid is the best!)
All right, watch out! Sodium Coco Sulfate is a product (natural), potentially irritating to the respiratory tract as a powder, and skin during heating. Don’t hesitate to wear a mask and gloves if necessary.
Pour the Sodium Coco Sulfate into the double boiler, add the water and mix.
Crush the paste with the pestle over low heat.
Once the paste is smooth and all the balls crushed (about 10 minutes) remove from the heat.
Now, add the soda crystals and mix again until smooth with your pestle. (I do it by hand)
Form a large ball and transfer into the container.
Squeeze well and flatten.
It’s ready to go!
Take your sponge and dampen it, then rub it on your washing-up cake. Next, do your washing-up properly (by using the water with moderation of course !) You will see, it foams really well. Life is good right ?
Avoid the sponge for nature (otherwise it works in the washing cake).
Do not use the dishbrushes directly on the cake otherwise it will wear out faster.
Make sure to not leave any water on the washing-up cake before closing the lid.
If you need to soak a dish, it’s simple, just put some water in the bowl (washing-up cake), and pour the soapy water into the dish…
